Sabrina Carpenter's holiday themed EP, fruitcake, contains original stories of love and heartbreak, alongside a cover of Christmas classic, White Christmas. However, what is arguably the pinnacle of the whole six track collection, is Sabrina's somber song expressing the pain of heartbreak during such a cheerful time: cindy lou who. Imagery of Christmas, a time of joy and happiness, contrasts the theme of heartbreak and sorrow that flows throughout the lyrics. During the song, Cindy Lou Who, the heroine of Dr Seuss' timeless tale, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, represents the girl who has healed (and stolen) the heart of the boy she loved. The slow piano and violin set the melancholy mood of this tale of heartbreak, accompanying Sabrina's soulful and angelic vocals. A bittersweet reminder of the loneliness the holiday season can bring to many, cindy lou who is a beautifully heart-wrenching song to listen to this holiday season.
